“I paid a lot of money for my jewelry.  I want to wear it all the time and get to appreciate it at every moment that I can!”  Honestly, this makes so much sense.  I understand wanting to get the most out of your piece, especially if you just got it!  So, why should I take it off?

I’m sure you’ve heard that you need to take off your jewelry when you sleep, swim, workout, etc.  But, why?  Does it really matter that much? YES!  Sleeping in your jewelry can lead to prongs getting caught on fabric, which can lead you to losing stones.  Chlorinated pools can cause the metal itself to degrade over time, and working out in your rings can lead to bumps and breaks!

But, aside from the damage that this can cause, there’s another reason that you should be taking off your jewelry.

Imagine: you’re living in Buckingham Palace.  You are about to go address your citizens and connect with foreign leaders.  You put on the most beautiful outfit that fits you even better than it fits the occasion.  Then, you go into your closet and begin putting on the perfect accessories.

While I can’t get you a home in Buckingham Palace, I can encourage you to give yourself royal treatment.  Allow yourself the luxury of picking the perfect accessories for your day.  Even if you gravitate towards the same pieces, taking this moment to make a choice for yourself is a great exercise in self love.

So, your royal highness, are you going to wear your jewelry the same way as the commoners?

Stay in the know,

Jewelry Girl
